I told Mikey if I somehow obtained the actual Holy Grail, The 1st thing I would do is detail all that pesky DNA off of it.. Same goes for guitars. If I somehow stepped into Joe Passes 62' 175, first thing I do? Out comes the Simple Green and the polishing wheel. Away goes the value..
Mike I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm glad your are having fun. Keep it up bro.
And just like the Blond one that you just got, for some reason the neck looks a little chunkier. Maybe its the camera angle.
I love it man. Love it.
Enjoy Mikey!

Amazing...simply amazing!!
Ibanez pulled out all the stops on Mr. Benson's GB12. I've not seen another with such wide figured maple...on the entire instrument! Beautiful guitar. I even like where GB's sweat tarnished the tailpiece. Mojo baby!
Play it in good health, Big.

Big guy I love the color and that wood grain......WOW-WEE ! I think your GB guitars are probably nicer than the ones George has. Mike kicks another field goal. Do enjoy my friend.
-
Total stunner, Mike. I have a stupid question: is that just plain ol’ cellutape, or is something specific applied in that situation?
Your collection must be breathtaking, Big Mike. Hope you enjoy the hell out of all of them for decades to come.

I owned a gb-12 for a while. It was a beautiful guitar but pales in comparison to yours. Stunning! Enjoy...

This popped up on eBay suddenly... Wrote the seller to make sure he actually had it, he did... So now it's winging it's was from Osaka to Chi-town... Lovely piece. I know man, I have a real thing for Benson models.

GB-10 with extra bling? It's a pretty finish.
-
It’s got a body half an inch deeper - neck is mahogany-maple-mahogany. So it has a fatter richer tone.

Now I have 3 deep bodied GB models with floaters: a GB100, a GB12 I already have and the GBY2K. It's almost illegal to mention the Y2K in the same breath because Ibanez really wet bat shit crazy building these. The Y2K is the lightest of them all - I certain the woods are not laminates - it has a far louder acoustic voice than the GB100 or GB12. Now comparing the GB12 to the GB100, well the GB12 is lighter by at least a half a pound. It's got the exact same body dimensions so I don't know what to attribute that to. But put any of these deep bodied GBs up against my '79 GB10 and they clearly have a deeper and richer tone. When I was dealing with Peter Farrell for the GB12 I got from him he relayed to me that George Benson thinks it's the best project Ibanez ever built for him. "If you want to play fast, the GB12 is the guitar".
I'll post some photos of what I have already

This is is the GB12 I got from Peter, he got it from GB

Snow and ice storms Sunday night and Monday. Box arrived Noon Tuesday ar ORD. That night it blew past Customs and got delivered about 1:45 by my carrier. Box was very cold, it’s 19 and very windy. Two hours in the Wicker Room and I opened the box. I let it rest in it’s bubble wrapped cocoon for 90 minutes. Then I opened it. Guitar is chilly but I took the photos.
enjoy

hey mike, I just bought an LGB300. Have you ever played one? If so, how does it compare to the 30?
-
That GB12 really is gorgeous, Mike.
Congratulations once again.
-
Mike is a beauty get it out and play some tunes. Since it is a GB maybe you need to scat sing the lines along with the fingers...…..What strings do you use?
-
Mike: I've only played one 12. It was, IMO, the King Bee of all of the George Benson Ibanez guitars. Better tone and a better feel, which I attribute to the body. Beautiful woods, too.
ENJOY!

What a beauty. Thanks for the specs. I was unaware there are deeper models of the GB out there (GB10 size). I love everything about the new aquisition. I am a sucker for abalone binding.

Thanks guys, I’ve been having a bad couple days, my eyes get tired real easily.
She is a beauty and I agree with GB, it’s the best project Ubanez ever did for him.
really uplifting seeing all the positive comments.
Jack, I have no experience at all with the LGB range.

Mike, I wasn't aware that any of the GB/LGB models were semi and thinline. The GB30 sure looks appetizing, alas, they're rather scarce :-)
-
Actually there were two GB30 models, the earlier semi-hollow (in trans red or black with two set Super 58's and a Gibralter Bridge.
Then there was the other later version, essentially a gold foil overlaid GB10 - known as the Kimono guitar - that GB30 they only made 30 of. In 2017 when Heritage ran the auction I got RED in there was a Kimono listed for sale by GB. I put in some decent bids but about 30 hours before the end of the auction my bids were cancelled and the item was pulled.I call Heritage to enquire and was told it was pulled "for some listing error". LOL
I was talking with Peter Farrell today and mentioned that. He said he was watching the auction and called George and told him, hey man you only have the one Kimono, what are you doing selling it, It was like crazy expensive, over 8k. It was listed with a $2500.00 opening bid I think, I ran it up to about 4k just to have a half assed chance of winning, but GB had them pull it.
Peter at one time had a blonde one off prototype of the GB30 (the semi version). I think he eventually sold it. He still has his Kimono and gigs with it. He regrets selling me his GBY2K but says he son will soon be one year old and he's a very proud latin Daddy...
There is a black on on eBay with GB's autograph, but frankly it's way too high priced for what it is. You see the red ones pop up from time to time... If I recollect correctly they sell for around $1800.00 or so like the one listed on Reverb at the moment.
