I could have fun in that store. I just missed out on a blonde GB10 sold by a member for $1500. Had I seen that sooner I would have been all over it. Timing is everything.

You can see it in the slightly different and more curved cutway. Also the color and the flame looks more like a GB100.
If it has the GB12 head and inlay, this is definitely a unique axe. ;-)

It's been a while, but that looks very similar to the one I had in terms of flame, but my burst had less yellow to it.

I had the luck to own both a GB12 and a GB100 (together with a GB30) for many years, so I had plenty of time to compare them side by side.
Unfortunately I sold my GB100 some years ago to afford a Hofner Chancellor, so there's only the GB12 and the GB30 left now.
The GB12 and the GB100 are not as similar as it seems on first sight.
Main differences:
1. The GB100 is noticeably heavier than the GB12, although not wider. I think that the inner structure of the GB100 is different (maybe a different or larger sustain block?).
2. The cutaway of the GB100 is slightly longer and a bit more curved. You can see it very clearly if you compare them side by side.
3. My GB12 has a saddle made of half brass, half bone (similar to the GB10). The GB100 has just a bone saddle.
4. The GB12's flamed maple is absolutely stunning. Compared to the GB100 the GB12 is in another league.
5. The color of the GB12 is more of a reddish-brown tone, while all GB100 have a more yellow-brown color.
6. The GB12 sounded even better (jazzier) than my GB100 and had more sustain. Still the best jazz tone of all the Jazz boxes I've played so far!
Both the GB12 and the GB100 are wonderful guitars, but if you're looking for the best, go for a GB12! ;-)

Definitely a GB12, Gitfiddler, and for sure a very beautiful one! ;-)
It seems, that yours is a very special GB12, because it's the only one I saw over the years, which looks very similar to a GB100 (especially the shape of the cutaway). Also the color of the headstock is more brown like the GB100, and it also has a bone saddle, which are all typical signs for a GB100.
I think yours is a very late edition of the GB12, which you can also see in the high Serial No.

Thanks, tahai. My GB12 was most likely a special order for guitarist, Steve Miller. (He was a long time Ibanez endorsee and autographed the rear of the headstock prior to selling it to me). Either he had them make one to his specs, or the late run of '12's changed slightly. All I know or care about is that it is a wonderful playing and sounding instrument. Originally Posted by tahai

Three screws:
a) screw closest to the pickup and the screw BELOW it that sort of point to the mounting bracket attach the pickup to the pick guard.
b) the screw above the closest screw adjusts the heigh of the pickup, there is a threaded device sunk into the top that that screw adjusts into, a brilliant design (having owned my share of GB10s with the same setup).

How many GB12 was made? Mine is number 82.

The GB12 has a solid top, the GB10 and 100 has not that is why the 100 is so heavy. My GB12 is only 2930g! The 12 is much more alive and louder acoustically. In the original brochure from 91 it states that the 12 has a marble top on SOLID spruce witch in my mind makes it a laminate but never the less it is still very different from both the 10 and 100. far be it from me to tell someone not to buy a guitar, but maybe step away from the computer for a bit, big guy? deep breath, take a break, have a sandwich or something? or take that other new benson for a spin? did you leave any guitars for poor old george? how will he tour now? at least he can do fly in shows anywhere within a 100 mile radius of your place without a problem.

Glad you're clowning around, to be frank, any guy has those special Oh Man I Shouldn't But Are Gonna chase... Closed the deal on the Y2K and when Peter was at FedEx last week with it I asked him, well now that we did this deal, how about the GB12 ??? The guy's got a newborn baby and that money really sets them up comfortably for a while. Teaching only pays so much...
She's far prettier in hand than my little phone shots can capture...

No neck bump cream in this case pocket.... BUT the strap GB used in the recording sessions (he used a couple actually) is there... Man that is very special to me... Glad I'm done hosing around...
