    Update:

First, kid and mom are doing great. Sleep isn't as bad as kid one.

Second: Got the new guitar on Friday and gigged it out of the box on Saturday. It's a lifer. I can already tell. I'm making a couple of adjustments this week before hitting another gig, but this thing already sits well with me. Adjustments are new strings (higher gauge and flat instead of rounds) and a slight neck adjustment. Down the round I'm going to dress the fret ends to make them slightly more comfortable, but I want a couple weeks of humidifying in the case first.

My mind isn't made up on the case yet... Godin's Tric case, if you don't know, is styrofoam shelled, no plastic on the outside. I'm just not too convinced. If anyone has advice to pass along, that would be great. At this point I'll ride with it but I'm thinking heaven duty gig bag or traditional hard case soon.

My particular deal was a factory blemish. Once I got it, I could find two small things that were off about it. One tuning key was installed uneven, but it's not noticeable until you really look for it. The other is a miny scratch in the back of the body that almost looks like buckle rash. Other than that, she's a looker!

Oh, and as for the tonal requirements... I know I was confusing on that...

This thing does exactly what I wanted plugged in. Unplugged, yes, it is quiet, but still has good enough tone for modest jamming and practice. I'm hoping fatter strings will bring it out a bit more (seems to have always been the case with my other guitars). Maybe I can get a video review out soon enough.

I have the godin tric case. It's sort of weird aesthetically but it does protect the guitar well and is feather light.

I've put D'Adario Chromes 12's and TI Swings 13's on my Godin Jazz. Both are an improvement. I have tried replacing the bridge saddle with an ABR-1 style with nylon saddles but went back to the stock saddle when I put flats on. IIRC the stock saddle is Tusq and gives more clarity than wood.

I really like the Tric case. Super light and much better protection than a gig bag.
