Kevin Eubanks on Dave Holland's "Extensions" album. From "sweet" to "scream."

So hard to say. It's like asking about the ultimate look. There's so many types of beauty out there!
But if I had to chose one, it's probably Pat Metheney, when he sounds like a guitar and not a horn, piano, elephant or something like that. This is a fantastic example.

oh that's cool. I talked to Glenn once he's a good guy. I called about a guitar that was on his website for years after he sold it. Funny thing, I ended up buying the very same guitar anyway from someone else..

Off topic question (yeah, I know my specialty) about a Pat Metheny tune.. Does anyone know if he played the acoustic guitar on "New Chattogwa"? That's the only PM song I play and I always wondered if that is him playing that.

Damn bro. If you are not 3000% satisfied with that, then guitars are not for you. That's a work of art.

    Hi Joe D,
Glenn is a very good guy (well I'll guess Keith is really the final arbiter of that though!). I've purchased 2 guitars through him over the years. Both transactions were at a distance and they could not have gone better. I was even thinking of a guitar that he had once and he talked me out of it - well it's probably more accurate to say he honestly described what it sounded like, even when he knew that was not the sound I was looking for. And for any US forum members, I know that Glenn has a new 16" Campellone in the store that is beautiful. I suspect it would be a very good price with the very favourable exchange rate. I was seriously thinking of that before I bought the D'A.

And if you can get a copy of his CD, the playing and sounds are wonderful. It's one of my favourites. I'm pretty sure he uses D'Angelico and D'Aquisto (and maybe L-5's too) mostly on that CD.

    Cheers, Chris

What is your opinion of the TF ? I have a 2013 model but without
the peculiarly placed strap button ! or is it a bolt holding the neck
    on ! ?

Yeah, someone went nuts on that button placement. But it's low enough it doesn't cramp my style.

It's a full blown jazz guitar for cheap. I'm surprised more folks don't own them. My first thought was, why in the heck have I spent almost 3 times as much for a CES? It's a tone king matched to my Headstrong 212 tube amp.

I'm having a rosewood saddle made by Bill Gagnon so I can lose the Tuneomatic.

thanks Eric. That was great man. About spelling, I spell my own name wrong from time to time, as for chowtowgwa.. No chance. Oops, there we go again..
    thanks buddy, I appreciate it.

Can't agree more on the quality of tone it can produce; IMHO one of the best value in Archtop from Gibson even more on the used market...It is neither a 175 nor an L5 , no better no worst it simply holds its own.
Why more people are not owning them is a mystery, but I also wonder why the RI are all more or less in closet queen shape and barely played at all on the used market?
I am interested in your opinion when you get the rosewood saddle, it is something I might explore too.

It is an underrated instrument and isn't the most popular
Gibson Archtop ( Dutchbopper & Vinlander are fans also
. nevertheless )The VB is my third TF, previously having a Wine
& rare Blonde finish model. A good idea to get a Bill Gagnon
bridge , I took your and our late friend's advice and obtained
African Blackwood bridges for an L4CES, and a L5CES, ..superb.
The TF's tone is good thru' any of my `SS amps. Tubes are no
    longer a consideration for me.
