I agree with HallPass, I think on any Fender Reverb amp I've had anything around 2 to 2.5 was plenty of reverb, anything more than 3 and ouch, it's too much. So try PLAYING a guitar thru the amp with the reverb set around 2-2.5 and see if you like how it sounds...

You know, I do not go over 3. It was when I tried it out at higher levels witout playing that I noticed the hum. 5 and above. Really a nonissue with the reissue......sorry for the pun. Live and learn I guess. And that hum I got is really not that bad.
Also tried it out with 12AY7 tubes. Underpowered and faulty. Stock tube safely secured in the reverb position.

I use a modern production 12AU7 in the reverb slot on my PRRI. It smoothed out the reflections noticeably. I also get a more usable range on the low end of the knob -- i.e.1-5. If it burns out the tube more quickly, so be it. It's worth the tradeoff IMO
OTOH, I had an NOS Mullard 12AT7 in V1 and I was just ever so slightly unhappy with the sound. Nothing I could put my finger on. I gigged the amp several times with the 12AT7 in place and something seemed to be missing. This last weekend I put a 12AX7 back into V1 and suddenly the sound was back. I think there was a subtle attenuation in some of the high-mid frequencies that didn't agree with my guitars.
