what do you think in comparison to the 1985 model? I dont really want the acoustic sound that the 2010 would likely give. best regards.

I would prefer the '85 to that 2012 Steve Howe model - it's more unique, has 30 year old wood, and I love the Shaw pickups. But who cares what I think? Why don't you see if you can play one or both of them?

    Hi rpguitar,
The 85 sure looks nice from a wood perspective i dont stay in USA or i would try them both plus there is a price difference there to consider cheapest the Howe model would come down to is 3250dollars plus 5% tax for customs plus shipping so that soon mounts up.I stay in the middle east at present. Do the Shaw pickups give that nice electric jazzy tone? best regards.

I bought it from one of the major online retailors (will I get in troouble if I give the name?) yesterday. Sort of. Listen to this:

I saw they were offering some pretty good financing options, so after a talk with my wife who was very supportive, I decided to take the plunge. I sold my '66 Es 125 and opened an in-house credit card.

The guitar I purchased was in their "private reserve," meaning there were pictures and serial numbers of the actual guitar that I would be buying (it said In stock and ready to ship). There was only one "regular" 175. I added it to my cart, saw it matched the serial number and wasn't just a generic one which were out of stock. Payment goes through, then a little while later I get an e-mail saying "the item you purchased is on back order, we'll send it to you when we receive it."

The guitar was no longer on the site. So i called over and the guy couldn't tell me if I got the guitar or not and said I have to call again tomorrow (today). Well, this morning they arn't open yet, but now I'm seeing the guitar is back on the site as in stock and ready to ship!!

EDIT: Issue resolved. Apparently Gibson sent this company a run with all humbucker sized p90s. They were in the process of changing these out and things got a little whacky with their inventory. Good news is I'll get both the '57 humbuckers and the p90s! worth the trouble! I'll post pics and more info when I get it.
