    Set the stopbar tailpiece low enough so the strings come off the tailpiece and up to the saddles on the bridge at the maximum angle without touching the back of the bridge. This is typically 2-3 threads showing the the tailpiece post.
    Better still: experiment with the height of the tailpiece - you may prefer the sound of a different angle. Just make sure there's still some pressure on the saddles.

    Just a random related thought. I always wondered why Gibson switched to the trapeze in the mid sixties.

    Get a new ABR1 bridge...that one has collapsed. Look at how low the saddles are in it. As others have suggested. ..this was brought on by excessive string angle, due to the tailpiece being screwed all the way down.
