Oh...I don't know. Maybe you should have read the whole thread.

Glad it worked out. I've sold a few things, and bought a few things on Reverb. I like them a lot. And seeing Dan's response here, I now like them even more.

I did. Your point?

Perhaps YOU should have read the whole thread more carefully.

Just got a beautiful coming gcs off reverb. First transaction and all went well. Awesome deal and awesome guitar.

So I just read through their terms of use, and re-read this thread. It seems that they have no such policy. They do have measures in place to protect both buyers and sellers, but no such policy. It's America man, so you're totally free to wait for them to lift a policy that they don't actually have. I've been a seller on Reverb for years, and think their policies are far better than the alternatives, and can't think of one that I'd call "bullshit". I've gotta admit that, as a firearms enthusiast myself, I'm a litte worried about how fast on the trigger you are to make judgements like these. I hope that doesn't carry over to the literal.

As others have said, as far as I can determine, Reverb has no 'policing' policy, stated or implied. Reverb came here and said it was a misunderstanding and I will take their word for it. Every experience I've had has been good. Every Reverb experience for anyone I know has been good. This is the first example of something amiss and they explained and corrected. Kudos to them for being so on the ball.
Being a veteran of the mail order musical gear business, I can tell you that there are serial abusers who try to buy gear, use it, and return it. They look at it as a free loan or rent. It used to represent greater than 5% of all sales! Just ask anyone from Sweetwater or Musicians Friend. And I applaud Reverb for being on the ball for such abusers if, indeed, that's what led to this. It protects sellers as well as other buyers. It may not be a policy, but a good eye keeps such actions to a minimum.

Selective editing much? Like that tiny part where Reverb.com publicly admitted to making a mistake, reinstating the OP, giving him $50. I can go all day. That's the point I've been trying to make since my first post in this thread. Since you called me ass, I suppose I'll stop being kind about it. Clearly you have self esteem issues, as evidenced by your quick anger, inability to accept mistakes or flaws in others, and your apparent need to aggressively overstate your opinion. You're transferring you're feelings about yourself to others. It's a classic case. As for you're strange predilection for gun talk on a guitar forum, I can only guess about what inadequacy you're overcompensating for there. Huff and puff all you want. Call me names. Boycott Reverb. Continue to post vitriol on, of all places, a jazz guitar forum, just like you have for the last 3 years, which is, coincidentally I'm sure, around the time a bunch of folks stopped posting here.

This was the 2nd email to this effect he had sent me. In the previous one, I had explained to him that I had been communicating with Ron the entire time and had given them status updates and that it was he who advised me to dispute the transaction with paypal.
In this last email, alex said he understood but that I still needed to agree to do more homework prior to using the service again and that if I did, he would reinstate me. I explained that they had already reinstated me and given me a $50 credit and implored them to do a better job of communicating amongst themselves.

Sounds like Dan, Alex and Ron need to get a cup of coffee together...

unfortunately, all message forums are the same. People who don't use their real names are prone to personal attacks IMO.

I think it's a shame. I thought the painful thread of yesterday - which has now mercifully been deleted in its entity - would have caused forum members to apply a little "forum decorum". As we say in my country with a reference to soccer: "Go for the ball, not for the man."

Yes, well when a forum member calls you a liar, in an open forum, it doesn't sit well. Looking back I should have simply said, prove it, and been done with it.

But today is a new day with a fresh opportunity to get it right! We survived.
Yesterday I attempted to close my Reverb account and couldn't find a user option that allowed me to do so.
So, I used the chat option and a guy named Alex said he'd close it for me. I looked 5 minutes later and my account was in "suspended" mode.
So, now I'm officially "suspended" from Reverb too. Hilarious!Last edited by 2bornot2bop; 03-02-2015 at 02:06 PM.

Interesting thread. It seems to me that despite there may not be an explicit policy, Reverb.com do have an eye on returns in a rather biased way. The problem may stem from the fact that to differentiate between abusing buyers, who take instruments out on a loan, and demanding buyers, who will not accept a falsely described or even flawed item, requires qualified resources. And, despite Reverb's firefighting in this thread (the 50$ are cute, me thinks), what remains is that they tend to ignore buyers' good arguments, and, by default, put the blame on he who sends back items, regardless of reasons.

Love this place, but I hate, hate, hate it when someone's only answer is a personal attack.
And when one not directly involved in a transaction challenges the OP to prove it, jeez is this high school, or maybe grade school. There is absolutely no need for this. Let's keep it on topic and thank the OP for bringing to light something one of us may also experience down the road.
I've been looking for Ibanez AR300s with really good flame maple tops from say '83 or so, and I've been searching Reverb a lot, makes me think twice about using them. So THANK YOU to the OP and sorry they are jerking you around.
And lastly props to so many of you guys, can't tell you how much I appreciate the depth of knowledge and experience that is here thanks to all of you.
