The only pick I will use is the D'Andrea Pro Plec 351. Perfectly shaped and rounded edges, soft plastic material that gives a great mellow tone, and the embossed logo provides enough grip.

351 size/shape 1.0mm but very stiff. I use the rounded edge in stead of the point.

The purple tortex because I can find it everywhere. Im sure I would like a more specialized pick but I'm losing them all the time.

I use two picks a 2.mm Dunlop pick for single lines and a Dunlop .73mm for strumming and comping. I don't use the point either, I prefer the round edge of the pick.

I'm a V Pick convert. My favorite for the last year or so has been The Euro, followed by The Jalapeño.

Quite a variety so far... My pick of choice has always been the standard Fender medium celluloid... But that was until I discovered Dunlop Ultex picks just last year. This was mainly due to the purchase of my first bass. After several trial picks, I finally found the Ultex picks to be incredible on bass strings.

Oh.. I cant tell you that.. I change picks/styles every few weeks

But the picks I have enjoyed are (in no particular order)

Dunlop ultex pointy 2.0mm (current fav)
    Dunlop ultex jazz 3
    Dunlop John Pettrucci
    Propleck 1.5mm standard

EDIT: yeah.. the carbon maxgrips jazz 3s are cool as are the blue maxgrip standards (1.5mm)

In the past I used regular Fender 351's in various thicknesses. However, I always had a problem with them because so much of the pick would be sticking out around my fingers that it would shift and move around while playing. I discovered Fender 451's which are shaped like 351's but shrunken down to the size of a Jazz III. They have been my preferred pick now for many years, and I use both the point and the rounded end depending on the sound I am going for. You can buy them online but they are not always available in all thicknesses. They really helped my playing, particularly for jazz.

I use Gravity .75mm clears, Pickboy Edge PEI, Dava (various large and small), Pickboy Carbons with the holes for grip, and some horn picks that are hands shaped. In general, I like a slightly smaller pick. I own some Wegans, some Dugains, etc.

And I received your product today (thank you very much) and am ready to discuss any time you'd like to open the floor!

You're welcome Bob.. So what are your initial thoughts on Lizard Grips? How are they working for you?

    Hi Mark,

Well, as you can see from my pick choices, I have a preference for picks that have some texture to them. My favorite sounding picks, the clear Gravity .75s, don't have a texture. So, that's the first pick I chose to try with a Lizard Grip.

My VERY first reaction was, "wow, these are VERY grippy (not sticky). And at first I was a little concerned about having the ability to move the pick in my fingers a very small amount to get it in just the right place. I guess I don't have a really tight grip and play to feel.

After using it for about a half hour, I guess some of my skin oils got into the grip and it started to feel a bit more like something I'd use. Something that could move around in my fingers a little more naturally.

So, I'll continue playing with them. I have a gig tomorrow night and I'll have this Gravity pick with me.

Removing the grips from the background was tough trying to peel them off with a fingernail. However, I rolled the backing plastic back, underneath the grip, and that gave me something to grab.

All in all, a great product and I thank you for the samples. I believe it's something I'll use and order more of.

    Best, Bob

For the past 7 years it's been a Blue Chip TPR40. I've tried many of the other brands, all good in their own way, but this is the one that gives me the exact tone the I like. It has a good feel and sticks to my fingers without being sticky, glides very smoothly off the strings which helps my very light pick attack. Have played the same one and have not worn it out, it's indestructible. I just hope never to lose it. They're kinda pricey, which is my only complaint about them

Good feedback Bob... I look forward to hearing more after your gig.

I can understand your first reaction to the grip.. When you first feel one, it can seem almost too grippy. I've never seen any other material with gripping properties so good without being sticky. Its kind of hard to explain, and really needs to be felt to be understood. I'm glad that it felt better after playing a while.

Also good to know.. in my experience, they don't lose that grippiness (if that's a word). I've carried around picks adorned with Lizard Grips in my pocket on a daily basis. You would expect a material that grips so well to want to pick up all the dust and lint in your pocket, but this really isn't the case... again, its not sticky.

I wasn't familiar with Gravity picks, so I looked them up. The pictures I saw showed picks made of a translucent material that has an almost neon green effect. I bet the transparent Lizard Grips would look pretty cool on those.

edh.. send a pm with your address and I will mail you a sample.

Planet Waves Black Ice Heavy (1.10 mm) or Extra Heavy (1.50 mm), depending on the rest of the setup. I've used them for a long time now. Before them Dunlop Jazz IIIs, and before that Dunlop 206s.

However, based on a recent comment by mr. beaumont, I ordered some D'Andrea ProPlecs, the 358, 310, and 351:

I need to spend some time with them, but my initial reaction is Wow! They are easy to grip, and I love the tone.
