That is helpful, thank you---is anyone using a mic like his on an acoustic archtop?
the video demonstrates the mounted mic near the fretboard, but the archtop position would be near the lower bout/f hole, correct?

DPA makes a "cello mount" that fits on the strings between the bridge and tailpiece of an archtop.

yes, that is what i have, tho i have not mastered how to avoid feedback and bleed with big band gigs...
