Uh oh. I was researching Seymour Duncan jazz pick ups and stumbled on this.

I have both as well. A new 185 with Bareknuckle pickups and new narrower headstock and an older 153 that I improved with all new electronics, kept the super 58s, and reshaped the headstock. No doubt the eastman is better on all counts but I disagree with far superior. The 153 while heavier, not as resonant, and a bit garish is still pretty darn close, especially plugged in, at less than 1/2 the price. I love them both as you say but the 185 is the queen.
