Found a nice MIK Epi Sheraton on Kijiji for a stellar price.
It's got the 3 piece laminated neck, so no scarf joint at the headstock.
I think this guitar will be a better fit for the playing I'm doing right now.

Nice find. Congrats, and enjoy.

Very nice guitar, I guess an early 90s based on the bridge and the nice Tobacco sunburst probably made by Samick
-
Yep, Samick factory, '93.

Nice guitar, but whats with Gibson on the truss rod cover?
Were these ones made at the Gibson plant or something? I know Gibson owns Epiphone.
-
Older Epis had Gibson trussrod cover. Nice guitar - looks gently relic'ed.
-
Nice one!
Good luck!

Made in Korea at the Samick plant in '93. That's the way they were branded then; truss rod cover is original. Even came with the original truss rod wrench and booklet.

What I really liked was the even string to string balance in the sound - much better than the full hollows I've used before. It's a comfortable guitar too. I've had some great sounding guitars I just couldn't bond with because they didn't fit my body well. (It would be interesting to get some of those guitars back and try them out again, since I've reduced my body weight by 85 lbs.)
I used my ZT Lunchbox with the Lunchbox cab. Plenty of power and clarity.
I think this guitar just might stick around for a while.

My buddy has one of the early 90s, Samick made Sheratons. A very nice guitar on the cheaps. He called it his "beater". Every time I went over, that's all I wanted to play. Told him it's no beater, a serious guitar. He put Lollar Imperials in and it's even better.

I love my Sherry, it is the most comfortable guitar I got.
It gets plenty of playing time; mostly when I am sitting on the couch simply playing over Galaxy cable radio/tv Jazz masters channel, sipping a good martini glass on a Sunday afternoon...like I just did today!

You would achieve better string balance if you adjust the pole pieces that's what they are there for.

Massive !! I second the notion of putting Classic 57s in there. It'll be even sweeter sounding. Congratulations.

Beautiful, well made, under valued, naturally aged character, plays well . . . what else cound one ask for? Congratulations!!

thumbs up from me too! Enjoy your NGD

I took out the Classic 57 neck p/up I had in mine, and replaced it with a DeArmond Goldtone h/ber. A tad brighter but also much more alive sound. Sensitive and sweet.
Wanted to add: Brighter is good at the guitar volume on 10. But... when I turn it down to 7 - 8...
just beautiful round and warm jazz tone - with all the sensitivity intact.Last edited by Jimmy Mack; 04-08-2014 at 07:21 PM.
