Wow. Beautiful sounding guitar. Is that an 18" as well?
-
No, it's a 17". I was just wandering through the Trenier videos and came across this one and really liked it.
-
Just for us guys following along from the wrong coast, Patrick (or anyone else), did you get a chance to compare those two 18" Treniers that are local to you? If so, please share your impressions.

Wow that's interesting I got to try out a gypsy style guitar that had some heavy silking. I've never seen anything like in the Trenier top that 2born posted. Looks almost like the wood stain was rubbed right into the wood and reacted with the wood in a unique almost speckling way?

Chris> I was at Lark Street last week. The Trenier was gone . . sold 2 weeks before my visit there. I do think the one at Golden Age is still there. I was very impressed by that one. Not a single negative thing about the guitar revealed itself to me. I played it for a good 15 minutes . . which is far more time than I need to come to any conclusion about an acoustic arch top. I loved it.

I can think of one thing wrong. That guitar is ugly. That's why it hasn't sold, and why I didn't buy it before you played it. Its been offered as low as $3800. Ugly archtops aren't an EZ sell...that archtop is evidence of that fact. All IMO of course.

I like seeing them right below the end of the fretboard. Other than that, the guitar strikes me as a stunner. Then again I do like the understated look vs. more ornate guitars.

Also, I seem to remember a certain Napolitano Primavera that sat in John's inventory even longer that this Trenier has. It might still be there if JR didn't discount it to the max for some lucky SOB from the beautiful Pacific North West. Also, as I remember it . . that Nappi wasn't too ugly at all. Might have even been one of the prettiest arch tops I've seen.

I said, IMO, that's one UGLY archtop.

Not to my taste at all. Floater danglin' in the wind too far from the neck...blank fretboard...no standard binding...I could go on...I've stared at it enuf times because the price was very attractive...but at the end of the day didn't pass 2b's appearance test. It will no doubt make a great archtop for someone who wants that scaled down appearance...just not my cup of tea...2 each their own.

Buying cheap has more to do with skillful negotiations than it does with your financial status. You know how to buy.

Here's a funny one for ya . . when I was with Buzzy last week, I asked him if he knew what ever happened to Arther Napolitano. He replied . . . . "Who's Arthur Napolitano?"
-
Wow, Buzzy is near NJ and never heard of AN? What a shame...is there any wonder he stopped building. That's the finest archtop you never played. I've been resisting buying that arched back jumbo on gbase...it won't sell for what they're asking. Beautiful guitar though.

One's financial status can force them to buy cheap too...like 2b.
If I was that skilled I'd have taken you on over the SE...but I didn't dare go there. You're in another league. You really ought to share your knowledge with a newb' like me....don't die with the knowledge in U!

My Larrivee has a similar pattern in the spruce.
-
To have and have not! I own this 18" Trenier and don't play it often. It should be played everyday but my time is spent 4-5 hrs each day with my other Trenier, for whom I would regretfully have to say...I love more.
Really it just has to do with the voice ( the sound ). Both are insane instruments and I thought I would flirt with idea of letting her go in this thread...rather than a for sale forum where many would inquire but fewer might not understand what this guitar really is.
Byrant made this for me in 2012 when it was called The Rosine model.
Does it have a "silk finish"? I have no idea and don't pay that much attention to details other than, how a guitar sounds and how a guitar plays.
Having just retired, I may also consider the release of a Morse jazz archtop called the Excelsior that was made for me in 1981 and is now held captive in a dark and lonely safe. The Morse "Excelsior",followed the "Oasis" built. In 1980. You will need to do the research...but both of these gals are very classy and expensive

I can't remember ever having seen a more beautiful guitar.

Also, when posting a guitar for sale . . posting the selling price is always a good idea.

Wow! I want to eat that guitar. It looks delicious and very beautiful! I can only imagine what it sounds like.

Bryant Trenier is a marvelous builder. World class. I own two of his archtops, one I commissioned and one sold to me by John Stewart. You cannot go wrong getting a Trenier. I play my Excel Trenier 4 hours everyday and always have a blast.
gottta go practice.

It looks to me like the sunburst on the top is asymmetrical. Anyone else see that? Is it intentional?
