The only border that is south of us that makes Fenders

    Us, Kimosabe?

I live in the South West. I travel down south across the border ... to Seattle.

Mind you, they make good T-style guitars down there, at USACG and Warmoth.

Do you mean The US and Texas?

Since I'm from Florida, and in the US, and near sighted it's the only border that matters :-). The difference between our and your southern border is you don't have a ginormous fence!

So, are the Mexicans that build Fenders in Corona, CA more skilled than the Mexicans that build them 170 miles away in Ensenada Mexico?

What I buy south of the border is German beer and bratwurst.

lets NOT forget that Fender guitars are now also made in china.... and i mean models with Fender on the headstock NOT the squier range

btw i have played this tele and it's pretty damn nice ... and of course not in the league of the USA or even Mex ones but still at $400 or less it's a great Tele

The best Fenders are G&L's, built in the USA! Tweaked and Twangy.

This kind of thing is always a little subjective but I did a little taste test of T-styles at a store about one year ago. A MIM Tele, a US standard Tele, a G&L, and an ultra cheap Squier (I think it was 160$). I was embarrassed to say that I thought the squier made in China was the best of the bunch. Played and sounded better than the G&L too. I should have bought it. To be fair, it is hit and miss with those since I've tried others that I thought were awful.

Judged by my last visit to a local guitar shop, Japan is the place for sub
1.5k USD Fenders. That includes USA standard series and all Chinese and Mexican made thingies.

Yep, those affinity, standard & vintage vibe squiers are cheap new and an absolute steal used. I've been searching for a Squier Pro Tone Fat Tele for years but the Squier custom Tele I bought for peanuts and tweaked is one of the best instruments I own.

T-style guitars are just a slab of wood with a neck bolted on. Find a decent neck and the rest can be swapped.

hat's why it's hard to find the good one, one that'll feel like real guitar.
IMO, the all so praised new Squiers fall short. However, the truth is, they are not worse, maybe even better than real Fenders up to and equal to USA Standard.

Old MIJ Squiers are much better. Again IMO.

And that's what you pay for, quality control I say this as someone who owns American, Mexican and Chinese made Fenders.

Ensenada U say?! I spent a year there one week! Be careful of the Cartel! I got stopped in one of those vehicle checks, without a warrant, just a half hour south of Tijuana. AR15's all around...very intimidating experience that was...but Ensenada made up for that.
