yeah you're probably right, however discussing the value of the guitar regardless of location was worthwhile for me and in the end didn't actually matter.

From now on I'll be known as that guy from Taiwan every time I post something which may or may not be a good thing.

in regards to the 16b, I got excited for a moment thinking that Benedetto was maybe offering an all carved guitar at a special cheaper price.

$9000 is the kind of money I'd pay for a vintage instrument as an investment or you know, a car!

$3000 is a stretch for me, it'd be the most I've ever paid for a guitar.

Sounds like you have a winner then steves. I'll give you a funny story about sticker shock. I was visiting a buddy in Nashville a couple of years ago and a friend of mine heads up the repair department at Gruhn Guitars. Before Gruhn moved off Broadway, my friend took us up to the the "second floor" and gave me a vintage mandolin to try. Sounded and felt ok to me but nothing special. Little did I know, I asked the price and he said $350,000. Yup, that's right…I handed it right back to him and said "that is a house".

Just check that the owner did not alter the Benedetto specs and you have a good deal for Bravo Deluxe. Just a thought for you, other than the difference in pickup (B6 vs A6) and the Deluxe binding package there is no difference between the Bravo and the Bravo Deluxe. Regarding the pickup, the A6 found on the regular Bravo is just fine for Andreas Varady (the teenage prodigy now signed with Quincy Jones who plays a different model but with the A6 pickup) so if it is good enough for him… So, if you want to save a few more bucks try looking for a Bravo vs. the Bravo Deluxe. If the Deluxe does not stretch you budget too much you'll enjoy it.

CoolVinny, no worries. My 16B is a 7 String made by Bob and his 7 Strings tend to hold value - but since I had him customize is for me (including my name) it is a keeper and not an investment.

If you really want laminate and you want a Benedetto then consider saving for a new one at $1,000 more and order it to YOUR specs and color (unless you need it now or it will be impossible to save based on your cash flow). The folks at Benedetto are fabulous to deal with and will treat a Bravo order just like they would a Cremona order.
Hello Eagle2x, thank you for adding your data-point. If I read you right, $6000 is the MSRP of a new Bravo Deluxe and the actual selling price is $4000?

That is my back of the envelope doodling of where the price for a small workshop 16" laminate archtop should be +/- 10%.

No, the price as advertised on their website is 6k. The regular Bravo is 4,500. They do not typically go lower, however, it always worth a call to Howard Paul at Benedetto to check.

yeah, I saw that...but having never owned either I didn't know what a difference a deluxe made.

that ebay seller you posted is a real baller! $5800 BIN for a '5CES!?

It sold for $6800. Bidding fever and he got far more than he asked for. I had placed a cheeky $5300 opening bid on it.

And the Sadowsky Jim Hall for $2499.
