What is a Baxandall sound?

Without getting too deep, traditionally, most guitar amps have a middle frequency cut, the Baxandall circuit has a middle frequency boost.

Baxandall usually means flat with everything at 5 (although I believe it doesn't have to be that you). Controls are usually active, you can cut / boost - on a fender tone stack you usually have a mid scoop and passive controls.
This type of eq can be found in Polytones, Ampegs, Mambo, most PAs and acoustic amps, etc... The RC Booster has one too and it works well in front of the Henriksen. But I like the Barb EQ a lot more.

My Twin 8 is the vertical one, built by Raezer before he passed. I heard the new ones are exactly the same. On mine, each speaker has it's own jack. I run stereo cables from the Evans, which is 4 ohms. I bought the a Evans from a guy on the pedal steel forum; I've always loved the sound of pedal steels. I tried it with 12 and 15 cabs and was convinced I wasted my money until the a Twin 8 arrived. I like the clean, airy bounce on the low notes of my P-90 175. I also like it on the bridge pickup of my Nocaster with the volume and tone rolled down - reminiscent of Frisell when he used a compressor.

I just want to do a short update, experienced though my ears. I received the mambo amp few weeks ago and had a little challenge to convert after having owned Jazzamp for a couple of years. The reverb is quite good, I must say, but the first day, I found the amp a bit sterile. Soon after I discovered an excellent combination of some special mambo controls, the reverb and my paraEQ in the effect loop.
Yes, I know people say eq pedal is not needed with mambo, but paraeq is very flexible and no hum when using the effect loop, and I like a little bite the right place. So today the Barb pedal arrived, the one which seem to attract a lot of love, but to be honest and after having turned buttons a half day, I can not really see, what I shall use it for instead of the paraeq. Maybe one day, when I get restless and need a change again, I will try Xotic BB preamp, but this month is like a long happy hour and in the end of it I will receive a new guitar from the luthier. So do nothing before I hear from him.

I don't get why you are referring to the Xotic BB preamp (the orange pedal), which is a high gain overdrive.

Hmm, I believe the Xotic I tried was with overdrive, but not like Fulltone OCD, which in the version I had, could not be turned down to something mild. The exotic provided a fat sound and possible to play chords with clean sound. I will check up.
