True, but in WA, we like to see BC as part of our NW... it makes us feel a little more civilized.

I'm with rictroll on this, all Jim's guitars are the best...The L361 Hollow Contour T...is my choice.....It's the best sounding guitar i've ever heard, and I've heard and owned a lot....L...

Gorgeous color. A lot like the Johnny Smith Rose I had. Looks kinda small for 16", that guy holding it must be big.

Not in relationship to Seattle!

Antique or old style, those are some of the finest finishes I've seen.

Incidentally, my classical concert guitar (that I sold a few years back) was made by Otto Vowinkel, Amsterdam. He used exactly this procedure on the guitar. Shellac is very thin and easy to apply (as well as repairable if necessary), according to him.

Nice to see that a new instrument still can get you excited. I hope it is everything you hoped it would be...:-)

Looks like it's right out of the '50s Jim. Knowing what went into this guitar, I have no doubts that you'll be very happy with it.

Wonderful, congrats! Look forward to clips and more photos.

just curious why you went with a 575 and not a sweet 16?
-
When I first considered this project, my idea was a Sweet 16 stripped of most of the ornamentation. Then I found out that on a custom order they could do the 25.5" scale length on almost anything so I added the 575 and the 525 to my considerations with less serious thoughts about a 550. Then I spent about an hour on the phone with Jim Deurloo from Heritage going through the effect on tone and acoustic response of all of the wood and design options. The 575 already had the basic appointments that I wanted and after a weekend of considering our discussions I decided that with an all maple body, X bracing and a few other ideas that they had, I'd hopefully get a guitar that would come closest to what I was trying to achieve tonally. It's not science and there's no guarantees but I'm pretty confident that it will be close to what I was after.

That is a dream guitar for sure, and I really appreciate that you are sharing the experience and excitement with us. Thank you! Can't wait to hear (more about) it.
