Thanks, Richard. I've emailed him, as there is little info on his site.

This guitar would be a bit of a gamble. Some people love them, some think they are awful. Lou at Guitars n' Jazz really tried to dissuade me ordering one. Half-flattop, have archtop - it could be just what I need, or it might frustrate me.

    Rob,

Which guitar is loved and hated and is both flat and archtop? The x04 series oval holes from Eastman? Geez... I had a 604 and a 904 at different times. They're great. Especially the mahogany 604, which at the time was the cheapest acoustic archtop Eastman offered. I think it was only $1200 new several years ago. Nice and warm sounding, and that oval hole makes a difference in the richness of the tone. I really liked mine.

I would recommend one also - but forget ordering custom; Lou was probably trying to dissuade from doing that, because I've heard the company is not that responsive and takes ages to build to order. Just find one used. Of course, easy for me to say because I do that all the time. I know others prefer to avoid that market.

Yes, Roger, the x04. I'll keep both eyes open

Here's me playing acoustically on my old AR-904CE (with the "E" part not utilized). This guitar is brighter than the mahogany 604, being made of traditional maple back and sides.

Nice. I like the guy's voice - a bit Al Stewart about it.

Please don't shoot me for this, I am just asking.
Just curious about the vintage instruments.
Anyone worried about shipping Brazilian Rosewood out of the US?

Looks good, Richard. Thanks for thinking of me. However, I've just gone and bought something else (via some creative accounting by my personal bank manger, aka my wife!) and it's not what I was looking for in this thread! After all your helpful comments! Sorry...

    I've bought the Vestax D'Angelico.

It's 17" with a floating pickup, and might even serve both my needs for acoustic and electric styles. Might be a few weeks, at this time of year, before it gets into my hands, but I'm certainly looking forward to its arrival.

    Congrats on the Vestex! Enjoy!

And no need to apologize, it's was no trouble whatsoever! I'd do it all over again.
