Postwar L-12 is simply an L-7 with gold-plated parts.
Pre-war Advanced L-12 went through a few changes - some had mahogany necks (like Roger's) some had maple (like mine). They all had fat triple binding as mentioned, as far as I know. I could certainly see Gibson using up a few L-12 peghead overlays at the end of the 1930s, or mixing a few necks and bodies.

Van Hoose mentions that Gibson started using a longer scale on the Advanced L-5 models @1937, and went back to parallel bracing on them @1939, so I'm guessing that the same applies to the L-7 and L-12 models at the time.

Lo-rez snap of mine - short scale, x-braced, maple neck, non-original tailpiece, Dearmond temporarily removed:

FWIW, the reissue L-7C built in Bozeman from @2004-2012 is very similar to the pre-war early Advanced L-7/10/12/5 in many ways - short-scale, x-braced. It sounds similar - all it needs is 70 or so years of being played.

Are there also 30s L12's that combine the x bracing with the 25-1/2 scale ? Or doesnt exist ?

F holes in L7 normally untrimmed? The neck in my old? one is certainly well trimmed and inlaid. I am guessing 1948 for it until I hear otherwise. Pickguard and 1100 look like an original pair and had similar life time. I do not like the old poor refinish but a new nice one probably not adviseable? artb
