I got a Washburn J6 blonde with a spruce top and three-piece neck. To me this was always the ultimate sleeper. I liked the neck, but the sound was just OK. I got a real ebony bridge with a long base, no gap, all wood, no brass, except height adjusters. I had a local luthier install that as well as a bone nut. WOW! acoustically its better than my D'Angelico (Japan) or any others I've tried. Work for a good acoustic tone first, then amplify it. I went through several neck pickups until I got a Benedetto 'jazz' pickup. Love the sound through anything. Neck is fabulous. Guitar looks great also. I replaced the original tailpiece with an Eastman ebony/brass. Not sure it does much for the sound but it looks great. I went through 3 Washburns before I found this one. Real sleepers as I said, but avoid the scarf-joint necks with spruce.
