I recently purchased a Fender "blacktop" Strat, dual humbucker guitar marketed toward modern rock. I added two springs to the bridge put on 11 flatwounds and am extremely pleased. It is very warm and articulate.A fantastic guitar for less than 500 dollars.the five way switch adds some fun tonal colors.i use this guitar for my original instrumental music, and a New Orleans style r-n-b/funk/brass band I'm in. also have a tele with a humbucker in the neck, which is an awesome awesome guitar.I have finally gotten over what a "jazz" guitar should look or even sound like. It's nice to be liberated from thinking that only my Heritage H575 or Gretsch Sychromatic are the only guitars that I can make a jazz sound with. Ed Bickert is the one who got my intrested in playing straight ahead so I guess I already was free of the "it has to an archtop to be jazz" thinking. It dosn't have to be but it can be along with just about any guitar someone wants to play. thanks for posting Kris!!!

i'm pretty sure it was posted here, but there is a newly discovered Ted Greene video on Youtube he's doing a clinic. He talks for about a minute or less about his guitar of choice Telecaster. What I never heard someone say before is part of the reason is the 25.5" scale, that with the longer scale the neck pickup is further from the bridge than other guitars and better position for acoustic sound of guitar. He also mentioned using strat for same reason. He said the telecaster in particular he uses because he tunes the guitar down and it handles better than anything.

Also the tele he's using in the video has two humbuckers on it, I noticed the neck pickup is actually down below the pickguard, he's getting the classic Ted Greene sound.

NGD for me! T-style. I picked up my USA G&L ASAT Special yesterday. I ordered it in January, so the whole process took 26 weeks -- half a year! The waiting wasn't easy -- so much daydreaming! I just got to play it for a bit yesterday, and I'm already loving the feel and the sound of it. Pictures to follow soon (I'm going camping right after work), but here are the specs. I ticked a few options, but the cost adds up so I held off on some things like stainless steel frets.)

    ASAT Special
    Neck:
Profile:#4 ("super-wide" 1.75" nut, 12" radius) [It was the option to get a wider neck that first caught my eye. Previously I had dismissed G&Ls because their standard necks have 1 5/8" nuts.]
    Locking tuners
    Bone nut
    Maple neck
Ebony Fingerboard [another option that attracted me to G&L]
    Side dots, no fingerboard inlay
Jumbo frets [There's my doubt, why not SS vintage sized?]

Body: fairly standard, but with a...
    tortoiseshell pickguard
clear orange finish [Originally, I was going for a plain clear finish, but I realized I wanted a colour that said "G&L", and clear is rather anonymous.]

EDIT: thought about putting TI-Swings on them, but the silk got in the way. Grr. D'Addario flat wound 12s are on it now, instead.

My buddy took a couple lessons with Joe Pass and asked him about that telecaster. Joe said that it was given to him and in that photo is the only time he ever played it, it's been in the case ever since. Joe did play a Fender Jaguar for awhile after leaving Synanon and doing some early morning TV show.

Did a search and found that Brent Mason has an impressive career as a Nashville session guitarist.

One Grammy award, commercials for Budweiser and MacDonalds, many film sountracks (among them The Dukes of Hazzard, very Tele coherent ), music for tv series -Friends, 3rd rock from the Sun-, recorded with Chet Atkins, etc. etc.

This is a great Tele syle guitar made by "Santander" Korean-Germany company.
It has great wood/allmost mahogany with budinga top/.My local luthier did mod and made this guitar hollow-body.So it is now hollow neckthrubody construction with ebony fingerboard.
I put SD Hot-Rails and KTS custom tytanium saddles.Tele has exelent intonation and great sustain.Attachment 7930Tele before mods.
