Hi guys,
is there anyone who knows/owns a Yamaha AEX1500?
Just would like to know about it,it looks very interesting,I did not notice it so far ( my bad!)
and found one at a good price,it intrigues me having both piezo bridge and minihumb, then Yamaha always makes good instruments for the price. Any comment would be appreciated....thanks!

Martin Taylor endorsed them a long while back. A very nice instrument.
Of course playing it will determine whether it's right for you (I'm all over a Squier Jazzmaster for the last year, go figure!).
I'm not sure but the above clip sounds quite acoustic on headphones.

Or you could go for his new endored instrument, the Peerless signature!
-
Had one and sold it....at that time, i didn't have enough money to keep 2 guitars.
But I missed that aex1500.
the pickup combination was very usable
Very good playability.
If you can find one less than 1000$, JUMP!

Thanks,I know Martin Taylor endorsed that, just wanted to know how it performs and about the neck, because the piezo/minihumb combination it's very appealing to me,also I know Yamaha does a good job on their instruments,so....

If you both have played it,just enlight me about those things

Yes this is more or less the price range in wich I'm moving,I got two contacts...

Yes he's playing in the middle position both Pups engaged, probably with a Piezo predominance in output.

I wish I could get hold of one, down here in Australia. Anyone in Oz Land got one up for sale?

I would get another one if I had the opportunity.

Interestingly enough, earlier this year I came across a scam involving the AEX 1500.
The offer was for a new guitar, for about a thousand bucks. Wanted payment by Western Union. If I knew how to put them off the air, I would. Has anyone else come across this scam?

Peterpanico,

Or type into the search engine, "Yamaha AEX 1500 Jazz Guitar", for dot-au domains if you have that facility.
Only ever heard one played in public, short-lived because the signal failed. I made a loan of my Epi and started polishing my halo.

Yeah a long way and more than that,he asks for it, 2500AU dollars, wich is about 2000€.....way too much for a 2nd hand

When the AEX 1500 was in production, it would cost at least 3G to get one here. Not a cheap guitar...But not impossible to find a 2nd hand, but there's an investment in time keeping track of ebay and such sites. Just when an item does turn up, it's unexpexted. Good luck with the search.

I owned one a while back. I didn't get on with it very well, especially the electrics. I think it was at the time Martin Taylor was experimenting with combining acoustic and electric pickups. It just didn't quite work in my view, I think in part due to the piezo which gave a brittle sound. The Peerless Maestro is a better guitar IMO.
-
Well they are completely different guitars,mate.....

All bridges piezos usually give that "brittle" sound, then you can adjust the tone to your liking, but a piezo will never be the same as miking an acoustic body, they are different things....

I have one in better than new condition. I had an expert replace the plastic pick guard and truss rod cover with striped ebony. I could be talked out of it but would need $1500. ABS case incl. I mostly use a vintage Gibson and Selmer copies so I rarely get to this one. I have met Mr Taylor and dig his playing. I have flat wounds on it. It is a hand carved top. MIJ
