Did the old jazz guitar players (50s, 60s) use reverb?

I really like Gary's comment: "a good amp and guitar needs no effects". I think that says it all.

I have to agree with that. Not that a good reverb isn't nice to have, but to me a good rig needs nothing but tone and volume knobs.

Yes, I agree you get a good amp without reverb like an old tweed you quickly forget about reverb. Guitar, cord, amp, the rest is all about the notes.
