Finding the best gauge for a particular guitar (Short scale 24inch in my current instance.) is trial and error, but any good advice from the forum could maybe be a shortcut.

I had forgotten all about this thread but it does continue to reinforce the idea that I am very much an outlier. I am playing a 24" scale length as well and I've just gone from D'Addario Chrome extra light (10 to 48) to Thomastik Infeld Swing series JS110 (10 to 44) because I wanted to reduce the tension from the Chromes

You must have an extremely light touch, 10-44 gauge strings would go out of tune easily when fretting with my big hands and fingers.
I have the touch of a baby Elephant.
