Jeff,
You said you wanted a "Footless bridge" - Any particular reason for that? Do they sound different?Last edited by Hoji; 04-20-2012 at 08:59 AM.

Of course, I haven't installed that yet...life gets busy, and I'm on to a love affair with my Kay Archtop this week...oh, the guitarist's fickle fancies...

From an audio standpoint it sounds like the guitar you play in "Misty" has a very midrangey response, but the new bridge in "April Kisses" has a wider range sound - "flatter response," to take a term from loudspeakers. How close is that?

Yes, that's a very good assessment of what I'm hearing-- I'd say fitting the new bridge increased both the top end and the bottom, and left the middle where it was.

I FINALLY got to play a Kingpin - the CW- today. And my first thought was "wow, this thing sounds pretty good (acoustically), considering it's not a spruce-topped acoustic". My second thought was, "hey- this bridge is plastic (tusq apparently), and I'll bet this thing would sound even better with a nice rosewood bridge."
This thread is exactly what I needed to read today... now I have to figure out a way to get away with buying it...
The P90s do sound really good, and the tone control is very functional- seems much more functional than most- it's useable thru it's entire range- making the neck pup do good "mellow" jazz tones if wanted.
The neck is a bit chunky for me, it would be the chunkiest neck of all my guitars, that's my only hesitation. I wasn't quite "comfortable" on the neck, because I'm used to thinner necks.
