SOLD: This is the Hidesato Shino Custom Shop model, not the newer Korean-made item. I have owned this guitar for the last decade, and am now thinking of moving it on. It is a solid-body guitar, perfect for jazz fusion styles and has been gigged If you are potentially interested, please let me know. Happy to ship to Europe or even back to Japan

MSRP in the States in the day was $3400, but of course the newer Korean versions are less than half that price. They are good quality too, but this is the hand-built Japanese custom shop version, which they aren't making any more of. The action on it is really something else. I'm looking for E2000. Have some better pictures, but too big to upload on this forum.

Actually, have a picture of John Etheridge playing it... his luthier set it up. Will try to find.

I own one of those. They are excellent guitars, I really love it. Recently become available for the Japanese market.

Sweet. I've not had the pleasure of comparing mine with another. Did you buy in Japan ? Do you mind saying how much you paid ?

I bought it in Paris, where D'Angelico Vextax still sold in Europe, in 2008. New, I paid 2.600€

That's roughly equivalent to the price I paid in LA (as obviously the dollar has moved around against the euro over the last decade), but mine has had a harder life I think - let's call it the patina of professional use :-)

Yep, that was indeed the Mango man, pretending to look at guitars so that I could pick up on the beautiful sounds being produced by Mr. E.
Apart from which, I play my own Vestax D'Angelico (NYL-5, see the Avatar pic), also into a Henriksen, so I wanted to know why someone playing a similar set-up sounded so much better than me ...and then I saw who it was playing.

Question answered. Back to the Woodshed, dammit!!

Decided I want to trade this guitar for a good jazz hollowbody. I would be up for cash either way, and would take a good jazz amp as well in part exchange. Can meet up in London for the trade.
WHY? (I'll also start a new thread).

Never understood how you can put pictures in the post.
I am only able to produce those little pictures in attachment.
Do you mind to explain how you do that?

That's carlescountry's guitar, mine is blueburst. When I tried to load a big picture the site refused it so I put in the thumbnail.

I miss my NYSD-9, which I usually play every day. Alas, I am in France on vacation and have no guitar at all to play. Mine is the next made after carlescountry's , the serial number is sequential. Mine had a fret levelling and recrown two months ago. I bought mine via a proxy, as it was in Arizona and my friend brought it back to Canada for me. I only paid $800.00 US
For those seeking a fine solid body jazz guitar, this is a very well made instrument, with a great tone. Buy with confidence.

I knew of the type of guitar because of Derek Trucks' wife Susan Tdeshci, who played one on the Eric Clapton Crossroads DVD and concert, I saw it and did some research on what it was, and lo and behold, here comes an opportunity via Craigslist, a popular classified ads website in North America and I took a chance and had my friend buy it for me.
To any that are wondering about Fusionista's SD-9, I would hope that if a warm sounding mahogany solid body is on YOUR wish list, go ahead and buy this, they have a medium small C shaped neck and are very balanced on a strap. The bindings, inlays, potentiometers, fretboard (ebony) and tuners are all stellar quality !!
I have not done anything to mine at all, except for the fret level and crown, and I would replace it again with a Vestax model in an instant.
