And if the new OD200 had reverb I'd be entering my CC# right now. What's the point of a portable system if you have to schlepp a pedal with it?

Ah, thanks Peter, I see, sorry. Maybe you could put a little micro-pot on the back for the reverb(?) Anyway, my original MP200-12 is doing me just fine. FOR NOW

Just asked one of the engineers if that was possible. I guess the back of the amp is even more crowded with all of the jacks. One day we'll figure out how to fit more in there. Happy to hear your Micro Pro is serving you fine for the time being though!

How would you describe the difference in sound between the quilter and the Henriksen? Which one do you like more?

Yup, I even swapped in one of those Celestion BN12's.

Good point. But, I never rely on in-amp reverb cuz I always gig with a pedal board. The reverb on the Aviator sounds OK but I very much prefer the options of a pedal, specifically my Verbzilla. It's my "always on" pedal because even when the reverb is barely audible it warms up the tone, esp the trebles.

There are lots of "micro" pedals out there that you could add to your rig with very little weight. I know people for example who valcro their preset EQ pedal to the inside of an open back cab. It just lives there and is always on.

Not affiliated in any way, but I just got to say.., I emailed a question to Quilter site about how many output watts I get by feeding the efx return from my outboard preamp. In 5 minutes I had my email response straight from Pat Quilter himself. I LOVE that!!

Can I get some info on Quilter amps?

    looked at the:

Katana 100 (not as much power as I thought it would have)
    Fender champion
Fender GT100 (also not as much power as I thought it would have)
    Blues JR
    HotbRod Deluxe
    Blues deluxe
    Spider 6

    etc.....

not finding something that really hits me..... or it weighs too much..

looking at the aviator and Mach Pro
    II

would like to not go past one of the $899 price ranges.

    8" speaker
    10 "
    12"

    100w @ 8 : speaker really do the job ---??? hall, outdoors...? Aviator 8" @ $699?

    12: @ $899.

    Mach Pro etc....

Difference between the Mach pro and the aviator at he same price range of $899.

Will talk with Quilter people tomorrow...

    Thanks!!!

My MicroPro-12 Combo (original version) has become my main amp and I love it. I swapped in the speaker that they use in the new Mach 2 version, just for the weight factor.

I have the Aviator Twin Ten - been gigging pretty much non-stop with it for nearly 4 years now. Very happy with it.
Channel 1 is never used. I only use channel 2, while it's called the 'overdrive' channel, it can be used as a clean channel by keeping the gain below about 4/5. There is an absolutely massive amount of clean headroom on both channels.

The weak point of this amp is the reverb. It's not bad, but I wish they put a proper spring reverb in there. That being said, it was useful when I did a gig with dancers on the stage- a spring reverb would have been making all sorts of crashing noises every time the stage moved.

Would love to try a Micro-Pro at some point.

Lots of posts on Quilter here, and there was an Aviator 8 for sale for a while - great price! The Av-8 is surprisingly powerful, and sounds great.

Have owned the Aviator 1x12"Combo, 1x8"Combo, Micropro head,Toneblock 200, 101 mini head. For me I like the Aviators best and use the 1x8" combo the most either alone or w/ a 1x12" small cab depending on the gig. You won't be dissapointed no matter which one you choose.

will the AV 8 make the volume needed for most gigs?

    outdoor or larger hall ?

does the 8" maintain the fullness of the bass?

if this was your only jazz amp. would it suffice?

I'm scared of something as small as 8" ... and thus also curious whether this actually can do the job. My instinct tells me too much high end and not enough mids and low end?

Unfortunately there is nowhere close I can try the quilters, so I have to order online, if I ever decide to give them a go.

    IMO:
    - I play in a quartet, and yes, it's loud enough; like someone else mentioned, if you add an extension cab to it, you can knock down walls;
    - I've never played outdoor or in a "large hall" without a PA, so it would work mic'd, same as any other mic'd amp;
    - the 8" will sound different from a 10" and 12", but still plenty of bass;
    - I like tube amps, so this would not be my only amp! I had the Aviator 8 (which I like better than the Mach, which has too many bells and whistles for me!) for grab-and-go jams/rehearsals, and it served its purpose well. Amps are like any other piece of gear: what do you need it for??

Note the Hennriksen Bud has a 6.5" speaker ....
Its a warm amp apparently ,
so it can be done with an 8" ....

I'm not saying anything about Quilter
Just that small amps can work for bottom end these days

Is there much difference between the 8" & 10"?

    more bass?

Quilter guy didn't seem to think there was ---$50.00 more for the 10"

Easier to carry the 8. I own a MP 8" and it doesn't lack for volume or bass at all.

My Little Jazz has an 8" speaker, and if anything, it has too much bass. I usually need to turn the bass down a little, especially if it's flat on the floor. I usually tilt or elevate it to reduce the bass a little. An 8" speaker can provide plenty of bass, depending on the speaker of course.

Looking more like the MP 8" is the way to go if the mp 10" has no advantage.....

I've had a Quilter Aviator 8" for a couple of years now. It's a good little amp and I use it for all my rehearsals, jams and small gigs. If you're playing loud rock music, you'might want to mic it.
It has a warm sound with plenty of bass and clean headroom. The built-in distortion is OK, but I use pedals for that.
It's rated at 200 watts, but 100 go to the 8' and 100 to an the extension speaker output. I'd compare the loudness with the 8" to about a 30 watt tube amp. If you add an extension speaker, it is capable of being very loud!
Reliable, sounds good, super small and light (about 20lb). I like it.
I added tilt-back legs. It's a closed back cabinet and pretty directional.
