I tried my Ibanez AF200 through a compact 60 today and was really blown away by it, i usually play a fender deville 212. The AER really brings out the true sound of the guitar, the response is really quick, bass was tight and punchy, mids really creamy and the reverb is tasty too. Reminded me of that Lenny Breau tone on his first couple of albums. Im definately getting one, even if it is to use at home. I really liked the slope one too. I have a feeling they might struggle a little with a full band so im thinking about the compact XL, has anyone had any experience with either in a full band setting?

I recently started using a Mambo Wedge 8" replacing the AER Compact 60's which i've used on a large number of gigs for decades. The mambo is a bit smaller and a bit heavier, but for Archtop Sound superior to the AER.

Just started putting the modeller through the AER fx loop. I think it sounds fabulous.

Just my two cents: I only ever played the Compact 60 once. However, the Op asked for AER amps in general.
Depending on your budget, might I suggest that you check out th AER Cheeky D.?

    AER Cheeky D. 10

This one in my humble opinion is a great amplifier that comes with a little more character than the very neutral sounding acoustic amp range. I used to play one until I upgraded to their Acousticube. The latter can be heard here:

(played on a Gibson Es446 - cool guitar that I should have kept)

However, the Cheeky D comes in at around half the price of an Acousticube.
Maybe this is an option? It is also plenty louder, if that is something you are missing about the Compact. It takes pedals well. I just did not like the internal overdrive circuit.

    have a great day,
    Sebastian

I prefer my tube amps, but I use my AER Alpha a lot because it's so portable and it delivers a good punchy sound that compresses smoothly. I recently bought a Boss reverb (the one that emulates a Fender Tube reverb) and with that it sound pretty darn good.
