Hahaaa!
Vinny can tell you, I had a brand new Black L5 Wes, for a short period of time. I absolutely could not handle having a black guitar. All I had to do is walk past the darn thing and my greasy italian-ness would end up all over it.
Much respect to anyone who can keep a black guitar looking sharp.
Beautiful guitar 2b. Really beautiful.

That disease is manageable, if not curable. I initially passed a Benedetto Bravo a while back because it was black. But I'm 7 months out from a ruptured lumbar disc, and when I resumed gigging I discovered that the weight of the plywood Ibanez AF207 I used on most jazz gigs since 1997 was uncomfortable. Worse, I have to shift positions every few minutes to avoid getting stiff. So I now play with a strap both to hold the angle of the neck wherever I put it and to let me stand and sit as I need to (even during a tune).
My 17" full depth Eastman is a bit too big to sling around during tunes, so I wanted a good thin 16" that was light and comfortable to play. Rustic's Bravo was the right guitar at the right time. It's not perfect, but neither am I. So I bit the bullet and bought it even though it's black. I love playing it, and I'm gradually learning to resist the natural urge to look away when I see it. Yes, you can see all its battle scars - but I've already learned to live with that, since I can't change it and I wasn't about to pop the cost of a new one just so it didn't have the patina of pro use yet. The really good news is that in blinded listening tests, I can't tell the difference between a black guitar and an otherwise identical blond one
.
I'm sorry your SE buy didn't work out, 2b. I had a hard time convincing myself I could live with a black Bravo. But I did, and I'm grateful that Rustic came to my rescue!! I even have a new mantra: "Hi. I'm David and I'm a recovering ebonophobic."Last edited by nevershouldhavesoldit; 05-24-2026 at 04:29 PM. Reason: Typo

I don’t know - black archtops with white binding and gold hardware really floats my boat but I like all the colors.
I have been thinking about a white falcon :-)
