every one that I've heard is extremely peaky in the mids. I think that they'll have to tweak the speaker designs to get this resolved. The current designs are all based on alnico or ceramic magnets. When they first started introducing ceramic magnets people didn't like them either and eventually they tweaked the designs and people got used to them.

According to Celestion, the G12 Century Vintage directly replaced the G12 Century, which was not embraced by the market. I'm not surprised; I have both, and the Century, although very efficient, is piercing and shrill in the opinion of many (incl me) which is why I understand they replaced it with the Century Vintage. In my amps it's still bright with the treble on 0.

But Celestion is not the only supplier of Neo spkrs. I never read anything good about them (on the internet) while finding constantly good reviews on the Jensens. So if you don't like the Celestions, don't bag all Neos in there with them.

As I stated, these experiments with Celestion neos were many years ago (10+) and at this time the only neo 12 inch speakers readily available in the UK were Celestions.
