    That's amazing to me and especially how someone came up with the process and how everything works etc.

    In 1904, John Ambrose Fleming built the first vacuum tube, which he called the "Fleming valve", for which he received a patent on 16 November 1904. It was the first electronic rectifier of radio waves, converting alternating-current radio signals into weak direct currents detectable by a telephone receiver.


    John Ambrose Fleming was born in Lancaster, Lancashire, England in 1849.
