Has anyone any experience of using power banks (or similar) to provide power for outdoor gigs where there is no mains power?
As an example, I am looking at the Portable Power Station 166Wh/45000mAh Lithium Battery

As a side, has anyone any real world horror stories about Modified Sine Wave Inverters? I have heard that they can be far from ideal when used to power audio amps(?) in that they can cause poor electronic performance, leading to distortion, humming, or reduced efficiency. While cheaper, they aren’t ideal for high-quality audio or electronics that require clean power - is this true?

Done quite a bit of this. Look for one that advertises a pure sine wave. Go with a good brand. Anker on Amazon is good and prices are OK when on sale. Avoid cheap inverters.

For one, there's a thread right above yours in New Forum Posts:

    Battery powered amp?

    Also,

    USB Battery pack for pedals

    Just look up "battery"

For what it's worth, I posted a couple of times about a battery + inverter system I put together and used to use (using a LiPO car battery) before I discovered much better power stations.

The power banks work fine if the amplifier is Class D. Tube amps don't do as well, because they draw LOTS of power. My Little Jazz or SBUS will run all day on my Beaudens power station.
