That's just data entered into the app, right?

I must say that as a private citizen I'm not certain if I should be more concerned about the Chinese government gaining access to "sensitive" data of mine as opposed to, say, the US or my own government.
That's a very good point. I don't know why I should trust Musk and his twenty-something (and one strategically placed 19-year-old) crypto enthusiasts with all the US government data they have now copied to their private server, along with the keys to the US treasury, more than the Chinese.

I am more concerned about corporate America raiding our privacy for the purposes of separating us from our money, although at this point the notion of Donald Trump and Elon Musk having unfettered access to people's privacy bothers me a lot. They are proceeding apace to a totalitarian state, which unfortunately half the country is cheering on. And I'm no fan of the Chinese government and don't want them to have any access to information about Americans either.

The spy culture of the technical world is out of control, in my opinion. You own a smart TV? That TV is gathering data on your TV watching and sending it back to the manufacturer, who in turn sells it to the highest bidder for the purposes of "targeted advertising." You are being monetized; indeed, you are not even a person to them but just one of many, many sources of micropayments totaling billions of dollars a day. You use streaming services? Exactly the same. You have not taken steps to block cookies, trackers and fingerprinting of your Internet usage? The same is happening. The real purpose of AI? To be able to analyze you in fine grained real time detail to monetize you. You do cryptocurrency? Not so crypto, very much con game. It's all about sucking up as much money as possible in the shortest amount of time. The sociopathy of the tech world is stunning. We are all being had.

Once upon a time the government was supposed to be a bulwark against this sort of thing, now in the age of Elon Musk and Donald Trump the government is an enthusiastic collaborator. By the end of the month, Grover Norquest's 1980s wet dream may be achieved: to have emasculated government to the point that it can be drowned in the bathtub. And then what comes next? If you think it's going to benefit you, you'd better think again.

There used to be a time that I wasn't particularly concerned about big tech getting access to data like my email (being an inherently insecure medium anyway). I reasoned that I'd be getting something in return - remember the years where a gmail inbox just wouldn't get full because its max size seemed to increase with your needs?

Them getting their hands on government data is just more unneeded proof that I don't trust governments any further than they trust me (i.e. not). But FWIW, only the scale is probably new here; most government network services not directly related to national security have likely be run by private corporations for quite some time now.

The 19yo is concerned with "just" USAID, no?

Do we need an AI to see that having off-the-shelf fake facial tan isn't entirely different from having ditto sex organs?

What dear old Alan didn’t predict is that only we’d have machines that pass the Turing test, but also humans that fail it.

The internet seems to very good at turning human interaction more machine like and stereotyped, hard to distinguish from a low level bot. Meanwhile the friendly and fluent tone of the LLMs can feel more ‘human.’

Why, it’s almost enough to make one leave the house!

It seems like you’re working with a chord tone and approach note generator for creating guitar lines. If you’re using DeepSeek for power tech on pedals, you could integrate the same randomness and adaptability into your setup. A good mvp software development company could help refine that tech even further. Anyone else using similar setups?
