So, you guys may have read a previous thread where I was looking for alternatives to the ES-175 and then ultimately decided on an ES-175 and a vintage one at that. So here it is! 1956 all original and in great shape. Can't wait to get acquainted!

Beautiful guitar. Looks like you're a Jim Hall fan.

I'm curious about the zig zag tp. I thought that was released with the PAF model in 57, but could be wrong. Here's the 56 catalog.

I've only seen a few 1956 models with this tailpiece. Could be that a few were made with the new style just prior to 57? Or maybe it was replaced at some point. I'm about do have a refret done on it anyway and I intend for it to be a player so I'm fine either way. I do prefer this style tailpiece though so I'm glad it has it.

It's beautiful. Definitely a Dream guitar. The mid 50's 175s, I think, are special. First time I played one I couldn't stop thinking about it. Then, luckily, 6 months later one crossed my path, a '55, and I bought it. Congratulations! Enjoy it. They're from a golden era.

Not to tell you what to do, but think carefully about exactly what size fret-wire you want.
You don't want to do it, realize you don't dig it and then do it again.

Congrats, and may she inspire your playing for many years to come. I always say that a Gibson ES-175 is all the guitar that a jazz guitarist needs (I own three of them, so I walk that talk in triplicate!)
