So I bought a new Fender Special Edition Telecaster FMT with 2 humbucker guitar from Sweetwater a couple of months ago. Bad photo attached. I am not a single coil or classic Telecaster person. But with the maple top and mahogany body, weighting less than 7lbs. and with a nice belly cut, I had to try it.

Then just last week I saw the TC Electronics Combo Deluxe 65 pedal and the Electro harmonix power pedals at 2.5, 15, and 44 watts. I attached a photo showing the TC Pedal and the 15 watt power pedal and Raezers Edge 10" Acoustic cab. I was running the Quilter Superblock US.

Sweet! If I remember correctly, those FMT's have a 24.75" scale. I've never played one, but on spec they look like they'd be a great guitar for jazz. Sort of a Lestercaster.

How are you liking the preamp pedal and pedal amplifier versus the SBUS?

I think they are short scale. Unique for a tele. I tried one at a local store, couldn't get on with the neck shape: flat, thin, & wide; sometimes called a "shredder's neck" (which IS what the guitar's aesthetic seems to be... sort of "what if Jackson made a tele?"). But after all these years, and all the guitars, I have become very picky about necks... I've played many, and have just decided what I prefer to play.

25.5" Scale which I prefer. This guitar works well for me.

I really like the Quilter Superblock. Used it for over a year. Of the 3 voicings I used the 65' the most. I just set up the TC Electronics pedal. But my intital impression is very similar to the Quilter 65' voicing. The TC Pedal to at least to me is a scaled back and focus usage when compared to the Quilter. [Please note I am or was a diehard tube Princeton Reverb amp person for many years. Nothing else compared for many years. So gradually and off and on over the years I drifted to soild state. ]

Plus, Later in life I am embracing less is more.

Flat and thin with a larger almost 16" radius. 1 5/8" nut width, 41.3 mm.
Surprisingly with my smaller hands I have come to like this type of neck.

Another plus is the Seymour Duncan pickups. These are not imported one. America made. The 59 in the neck is more adequate to my ear which can be very picky. But the bonus is the bridge pickup. Typically the match up is a hotter pickup like the JB. I really have no interest or use for that type pickup. But that's not case with this guitar. The bridge pickup is the SD Pearly Gates. I never had tied this pickup. But from the I was floored by how usable the tone was to me. Supposedly it is a hotter version of the 59' and Billy Gibons is connected to it.

With 30 days to try a guitar this one just added up to be a keep for the reasons I have mentioned in this posting.

Hah! Me too! Here's my NGD on the 2004 MIK version.

I think of that guitar as the LP Custom Tele. Smack in the middle between those two models.

On mine the nut is 1.655"
The depth is 0.79" wood only, at the first fret, carved very "D"
I like the neck. D necks reach deep back to my youth.

    Great minds think alike!
Honestly the goodness for the tone and feel for the guitar happened on most within a minute of plugging it in to play. I don't recall that happening in the past ever.

An interesting twist is I now have all 3 Electro-Harmonix power pedals. 2.5, 15 and 44 watts. So with this set up the usage possibles are wide ranging. Especially with the Raezers Edge cab.

    Cost?
    2.5 watts $40 (New)
    15 watts $80 (New)
    44 watts $100 (Used,)
TC Electronics Deluxe 65 pedal $100
Like new from a forum member.

I bought the cab used from a forum member a few years back. I don't recall the price. But I bought it from Ric Lee. Prices things very fairly and in very good condition.

I do love this approach, and have a couple of open-back cabs each set up with a Loudster velcro'd to the floor.

    Flat, thin and wide?

Hopefully not all as the same time?
