So not exactly gear. But if you enjoy arch tops, the finest craftsmanship, and builders, it’s so relevant here on the gear page.
D’Angelico means ‘of the angels’
Written by Paul Schmidt in 2018, this book covers two of the finest arch top builders ever - John D’Angelico and James D’Aquisto.
It’s a book that highlights the history of some of the greatest arch tops ever created.
The book is revision 3 in hard cover glossy that’s filled with stories and photographs.
If you’re passionate about arch tops, and builders, this is a book for you.
This book sells for $59 retail, yet many sellers are asking over $100 and up for 1st edition copies, yet it’s the same book as revision 3.
I purchased it on Reverb for $49 with free shipping. And to my astoundment the usps shipping cost was $18.60.
Highly Recommended!

good book, but that shipping cost is a gouge, doesn't free mean free?
media mail should be no more than $7 unless they tacked on some unnecessary packing/handling charge
-
No, the shipping was no charge to me. It shipped free of charge. It’s rather heavy and measures 16”x11” so I imagine the dimensions increased the shipping costs for the usps.

It is a great book. I have a first edition that I bought many years ago.
There are two other great books about D'Angelico guitars:
The Builder's Bench by Paul Schmidt and Arian Sheets
D'Angelico Master Guitar Builder What's in a name? by Frank Green

I feel blessed my friend Paul gave me the books and I got a complimentary copy of the some of the early additions due to some input I had with the book. No serious archtop lover would be without the book.

SS, how does this book compare to this one? Thx!

All three books are well work having.
