And unfortunately I don't think there are any luthiers that post here so I don't have anyone to help me out on this.

John — just quietly, a new member has introduced himself (in a very modest style) in the Chit Chat section. He didn't link to his Web site but his name rang a bell and I checked it out... here's his site intro:

A luthier for over a decade, Wyatt established Wilkie Stringed Instruments in 2009, ending his most recent engagement as the master craftsman for Benedetto Guitars, long considered the “last word” in archtop jazz guitars. Working for two years under the exacting supervision of Bob Benedetto, Wyatt built all of the hand-carved archtops to leave that shop.

Thanks to ES125er and frogeye for the recommendations. I'll follow them up.

A few years back I went through the effort and converted many of Cal Collins's albums that were unavailable on CD to MP3 files. They came out decent in respect to sound quality. So in case you'd like to listen to some of Cal's guitar work drop me a line as I would be honored to help.....

Sorry, don't like the sound of that instrument at all. It's shallow, tinny, and inconsistent. And playing like hell is no way to demonstrate how good an instrument is. Am I missing something?

Hello Tommy, you are missing a good recording!

I recorded this unique moment (2010) when Sylvain Luc played for the first time a Ken Parker archtop. He is not demonstrating it, just try out. It's recorded with an old video camera with poor internal mic!
