What is this effect on jazz guitar?

Hello, many examples of this can be given, but I will give 1-2 and ask for your answer. What is the effect in the guitar solos? Which pedal?

i mean, yes, this tone can be achieved with ehx pog, but isn't there another pedal to do this? this tone is a very common tone in modern jazz and it's strange that we can only achieve it with pog. i think there should be other pedals?


my other question is if pog is the equipment that gives this tone its main character, is octave the main effect of this tone? then any octave pedal could be used instead of pog but I don't think it would be the same.

Both are using the 'attack' control on the EHX Pog 2 to shave the attack off of each note.

I do love this sound, but unfortunately I also feel like in about 5 years its going to be the equivalent of the dated "chorused" / "Rat'd" 80's early Scofield sound because everyone is going to emulate it.
