Up for sale is my mid 50’s Gibson L-50 acoustic archtop. I restored this guitar over 30 years ago – when I got it, it had no finish, no frets and a slight peghead fracture. I glued the peghead fracture and reinforced it by applying a rear peghead veneer that bridges the fracture (a very dependable technique which I've used many times) – the repair is invisible and has shown no hint of failure since it was done. The top had a couple of holes near the bridge where evidently some had installed a surface mount pickup – the holes were repaired using spruce plugs – one is beneath the pickguard so it’s not visible. New frets were installed, as was all new period correct hardware, and of course a new finish was applied.
This model has a solid carved spruce top, solid maple rims and a laminated maple back. The neck is one-piece mahogany with the typical full feeling 50’s contour (neck depth @ 1st and 10th frets is .900 and .960") – fingerboard is Brazilian rosewood. The sound of the guitar is very sweet, with good volume, and deeper bass resonance than you might expect from a 16” guitar.
This was my “pick up & play” guitar at home, kept out on a stand, and though I played it often, the frets show almost no wear and the over 30 year old finish still looks like new - price is $2800+shipping (new hard-shell case included).

Cool beans, bud.

Some lucky person out there is going to get an extremely cool guitar!

I had an L-50 for years and absolutely loved it. It and my Martin O-16NY were classic examples of plain, simple, high quality instruments that punched far above their weight classes. Guitars like this are true jewels. They’re grossly under-appreciated and a true joy to hear and play. Given its history, this one has to be a great one.
It’s also a bargain.

Can I ask the nut width? It looks wider than the standard 1 11/16", if it is, would you ship to the UK? Thanks.

The nut width is actually just a hair (maybe 1/64") over 1&11/16" - I'd prefer to ship within the US, but I'd consider shipment to UK if no US buyer comes forward.

Mark, I've also been having trouble not having time to spend on the forum. If I did, I think I would have at least two new guitars at home from your rescue operation sales! Keep it up. It's a joy to behold. Very cool.
