Hey Folks,
On the off chance anyone was interested, I'm selling this 1975 L-5c with a custom Pete Biltoft made Charlie Christian floating pickup.
The pickup is installed on a replacement pickguard which has tone/volume knobs and jack all installed on the pickup.
I believe on 40 were built in 1975 and this one is in excellent shape.
Comes with original hardshell case, original (I believe)/additional pickguard and additional hardware.
It's a wonderful guitar......in sight, sound and playability.
Price: $9,000 shipped CONUS
***PRICE DROPPED to $8,500****
Thanks everyone.....

That is a beauty. GLWTS

Here is a video of our very own, Fred Archtop, playing an older model with a Biltoft-made Charlie Christian pickup as well.
Happy to answer any questions, obviously ?

Wow, that's a beautiful instrument!
GLWTS!

That floating CC really works well with the guitar, judging by the video. Nice guitar. GLWTS

That video was dropped by Fred about 4-5 years ago. I rushed to transcribe it because I enjoyed it so much.

I also had the same pickup installed on a new guitar about 9 years ago. It’s a winner!Last edited by 2bornot2bop; 12-11-2025 at 01:22 PM.

I’d love a copy of the sheet music for this piece if you’d be up for sending me it?

No, mine is not noisy.

Also, I understand Krivo now makes these pickups from Biltoft's design. Any idea if they're the same? Anybody? Thanks.

I had a 1978 acoustic L5 almost the same guitar by looks by this one of DM, has a nice back. That guitar was really nice smooth sounding acoustic and the BJB pickup was fantastic. These Norlin Gibson can be every bit the same as any Gibson from any other years. My guess is this is a really good guitar, and I would love to play it and check it out. In fantastic shape and no issues. I know the seller, and you will be treated with care and respect no worries buying it. The only think I can say about some of the Norlin era guitars was they keep the finishes pretty simply. Just the black to the yellow. The same nitro they buff and look fine but my preference is those nice cherry burst, wow they are cool.

Why not bump it to the top!!!

After a few fits and starts with a few deals, this is now available again

I'd like to bring this to the top.of the page. Offers welcome.

I am dropping the price to $8,500.
Great guitar in great condition

This is a good price for a dream guitar. If I did not have 11 archtops (my tank is full), I would have already pulled the trigger.
Some years back, I visited the San Francisco Guitar Center and they had a mid 70's L-5 C. I played it and loved it, but I was unsure about the price so I told the sales person that I would sleep on it. The next day, I went to the bank, got the money and went down to the store to get it. It had sold an hour before I got there.
Moral of the story is, you snooze, you lose. GLWTS!

SS, that has happened to me more than I want to admit. It's a painful experience.
I have a L5P, with the Gibson BJB pickup and I don't need another acoustic L5. Lust and desire are different though. I'd love to play this one side by side with mine just for the joy of it and comparison. This is a great deal for someone wanting an L5C.

I know this fellow and this is a fine guitar I am sure. Never underestimate the Norlin L5's I owned a 1979 and it was a great acoustic L5 with bjb. Sounded like heaven when plugged in. DM here is the real deal and you could not ask for a better person to deal with no concerns. I would have already bought this but I have an acoustic L5 from 2003 and just don't need this one. If you have ever thought about an L5 and said I want one, but they are expensive, make sure you remind yourself that the price is great and they won't get cheaper.
If you sit around and wait too long you will miss a fine guitar. You can play the guitar with him but be careful about playing golf....unless maybe you're a scratch player.

Ya gotta love the close-up photos of the headstock (the mechanical end!) . I stare at mine quite a bit, a side benefit of owning (the spending $$$) it. Fetishist I guess.
