    Hi all,

A few months ago I missed a possible 'life time' opportunity on buying a Abe Rivera archtop - model 'baby bop' and a 16 inch 'bop model.'
I know Abe's guitars are getting rare... currently I'm not looking for the sceptor model (I know there's a few out there on Reverb at the moment).
If any of ya'll know of someone selling a Abe Rivera archtop please let me know... Thank you.

    NJ

Just a couple months back Archtop.com had a couple Abe Rivera Bop models for sale. Maybe try contacting them and see if they have any leads for you…..

Yes, I actually tried the baby bop and I am still kicking myself in the head for not buying it. Didn't get to try the full 16 inch body - wider nut on that one...

I did a show a while ago with an excellent guitarist (whose name escapes me right now) who played a Scepter, and he had a friend he played with who had a bunch of Riveras named Tim Siciliano.
I saw Tim play a Rivera hollow body guitar at the old Boarders book store on Lawnguyland, and he and the guitar sounded great.
My late father, who lived around Boarders, used to go see him play, and they became buddies, which was funny because my father was three times his age!
Anyway, maybe TS has a website or something, and he might be able to help you. Abe couldn't have made that many guitars.

    Thank you sgcim,
I never heard of Tim Siciliano and did some research.. he does have a facebook account. I might dm him and see what's up. It does look like he has a bunch of Abe's guitars.

And yes... I'm sure Abe didn't build that many guitars - he worked completely on his own like Roger Borys. Roger has about 500+ guitars now, I think. Anyway, thank you for the help!

Yes, I saw that yesterday. Abe Rivera Bebop model - deep body. Looks stunningly beautiful. I'm sure it's a lovely instrument.
I asked the Japanese associate about the guitar and he said it is at $27,000 tax free - but I see identical one on Ebay for $44,000.

Now, this is unusually expensive - possibly the most expensive Abe Rivera guitar ever I've seen.
The most expensive one I saw last year was just around $8,000 (Bebop Model with wider nut). Baby bebop also sold last year at $6,000.

    $27,000 ~ $44,000 seems like the price range of a D'Angelico or even D'Aquisto... or a 20s 30s L-5.

I mean, I get that people appreciate and value Abe's guitars... but jeez! That's a ton of money for an archtop... especially in the times we live in now with how it's lookin' like in America.

Again, BEAUTIFUL guitar. I can almost 'feel' and 'hear' the guitar because I recently had a chance to play a wonderful Abe Rivera baby bebop model. His guitars are something special.

it seems like Tim might have a little bit of an influence from Pat Martino.

    He studied with him.
It's a great guitar, but the price is insane.
