I went to see one yesterday but got a message when half way there that the seller realised it was a 'T'. I know I should have checked but the listing was a 125 and no side photos.
Thanks

Hi. I'm pretty anxious about this. How often do you think I should bump the thread?
-
There’s one here, but it ain’t cheap … to think I sold mine for £650 (15 years ago tho) Just a moment...
-
Thanks. Yes, I've seen that. Helluva price! But that's pretty much the only one atm. I'm starting to toy with the idea of buying from abroad but not sure!!

I think that reverb ad is wishful thinking. The going price for a 125 is around 2k in the EU. I personally think thats high but the world didnt ask my opinion on prices.
-
2k? where? i buy them all.

Thats the price range over the past 6 months or so when I looked at reverb sales in the EU
Ive got one but Im not selling.
I was thinking about it. Then I played it a few days and the thing almost plays itself.

She's a bit dodgey!

And a used one as well, a fraction of the cost. And probably just as good, especially because of the laminate construction build. Electronic parts, pickups are easily replaced.

They have the look but not THE SOUND, es-125 has the classic Gibson sound.

Can I ask whereabouts the T was and asking price? Good luck with your search.
-
You're done, but there will always be a next one.

Perhaps The newer Epihone imports or Peerless might sound closer?

I still wanted one regardless and I've now suceeded in getting one.

I used to have a 1958 ES125 that I stupidly sold about 1200€ 15 years ago.. I had imported it from the US to France for about 800€ in 2005 or so.. they were all over Ebay for that price at that time.
I'd really love to buy one back, but the crazy prices really make me think twice.
I liked that guitar very mucj, but l have a hard time recalling if it was 2500-3000€ good ? I don't think so... Well there's a sentimental thing when buying an old Gibson. But are these really worth the asking price today?
I'm a better player today, and have much better ability to know when I 've got a an excellent guitar in my hands today.
Hard to try one, and getting one without trying, l'm kind of hesitant..
-
I believe I was very lucky finding one which was at the lower end of the current asking prices here in the UK.

As I've mentioned before it is almost pristine. It plays really well, has a good neck angle, no obvious sinking of the top and sounds wonderful.

The Archtop Tribute AT125 is an excellent stand-in. Ask Masaki-san of Walkin Shibuya Japan to give you a heads up when he gets any in.
