Some years ago I bought a used G&L Comanche on Reverb. I already had another Comanche that I love. This new one had David Gilmour EMG pickups, which I had no experience with. It also had the stock pickups mounted on the original pickguard and yet another space pickguard.
I don't recall the price, but it was not selling. I contacted the seller. He explained why he did what he did and why he now needs to sell it. The guitar has a number of upgrades. The neck is birdseye maple and the top is heavily flamed maple. The hardware is gold.
There's two points in posting this. First, Reverb allowed a conversation with the seller, which lessened my anxiety about buying the instrument. Second, I began playing it more lately, and it is wonderful. The guitar design is as good as any Fender Strat. The standard tone controls on the Comanche allow more versatility than the Strat. But the surprise is the EMGs. They are hum-free and sound great. Yesterday I listened to a bunch of A/B trials on YouTube between Fender and EMG pickups in Strats. The sound is slightly different. Posters and listeners were split as to which one they like better, but few had strong preferences. Battery changes are pretty easy when doing that with string changes. It involves removing four screws from the pickguard and a very quick swap. My battery is several years old and doing fine.
I have had two bad transactions on Reverb. I got a refund on a scam and got paid for a repair due to damage by poor packing. (The shipper sent it with just the case and a label on the case with no internal packing. The neck pickup was knocked free and there were superficial scratches on the top, which buffed out.) In both cases it was PayPal actually that fixed the problems. I got an eBay guitar with a really bad headstock repair that was not disclosed. PP took care of that also.

Well that’s Stunning Looking! Wonder about how heavy it might be, as well as bright tonally with all that maple and ebony board?

The guitars are in the light Les Paul range. I just weighed my two Comanches.
The "bowling ball" finish guitar has an ebony board also. You can see the weights. The guitar balances well with a strap, and the contours are comfortable.
My Thornton "Tele" is a pound lighter.

I have not noticed it being any brighter that a regular Strat. The EMG "tone" controls are a bit different, as are the stock G&L controls. There definitely is a single coil sort of sound but no hum with either Comanche.
I also like the Fralin P-92s, which seem similar.
