I probably have worse hearing that most people on the forum to be honest. I'm almost completely deaf in one ear.
With that said, it also probably depends how close the whole pickup is to the strings. If it's further away, the polepieces will have less impact.

but again I don't normally use bronze or brass strings. I have had them on, and IIRC the balance was fine with them. But I can't guarantee that my memory is perfect. The 1000 may be better suited to your purpose, but it's subjective.

I'm not really planning on experimenting with both, tbh, and more than a little weary of "sounds warmer" judgments from members here. That could well mean would NOT prefer the 1000...

I'd just need to know how much clearance to the fingerrest is required (= how far the PU sticks out to the right of the fretboard), and how thick it is. But those details can come at the time that I actually pull the trigger on the mod.

How far it sticks out depends on the width of the fretboard.
