I like heavy gauge strings to help even out picking. I've been using thomastik 13s on my L-7 which I like, about as heavy as I can go while still being comfortable.
I want to try and match that tension on my 330. For a while I was using Chrome 13s which was close but still felt a little floppier. I recently changed to thomastik benson 14s which are close on the high strings, but the low strings aren't any heavier than the normal 13s.
I haven't seen any sets with heavier than a 56 on the low strings. Anyone know if any? A 58 would probably be enough..
Edit: the Benson are a little heavier than the swing 13s actually. But I want more haha

Wow, first time I've seen Chrome 13s described as "floppy"! Easy to swap out the plains for 14, 18 etc, but heavier than 56 on the bottom?...

Thomastik give you the gauge and tension of their strings for a 650mm scale length. You don't say anything about the perceived tension when you put them on that "330" but I assume its scale length is different enough from that of the L7 to require a different tension to get the same strings at the same pitch?

Not sure why you'd want to go so heavy on the bottom...law of diminishing returns kicks in pretty fast after a .053 or so on the low E...

The chromes are usually as tense as they get. You might want to give Dogal a look. Pretty darn expensive but lots more tension that say the heavy benson set. Sound pretty good too.

I tried TI Plectrums (forget which gauge exactly) back when I had my Loar. Weirdest set of strings I ever played. There were round wound strings and flats mixed, imbalanced gauges, and the strings were so short I had to forego a wrap on the D and G so the silk wasn't in the nut. Useless.
