Sub-forum For ES Based Guitars
1980 Yamaha SA700. A surprise gift this year from a friend.
I haven't bonded with it well yet, but will because it was a gift.
It's been hard to find a hard case to fit because the neck angle is unusual. It's in a gig bag & I don't travel with guitars, but I'll figure something out.

I don't have a pic of just my semis, but these are the two of them with some bystanders. In the middle is my AS-200, which is a fantastic guitar with TI 12s on it. I tried a lot of other strings on it but never really found that sweet spot. The 12s completely brought that guitar to life. With the maple neck and ebony board it is more of a 355 than 335, but it's a lovely guitar and has that dreamy Ibanez neck.
The Tokai is a '14 ES-168, which is basically the same as the current ES-240 or so. They keep changing the model names as the prices go up, so a 10 year old ES180 is 'higher up the line' guitar than a new ES-180, if you follow me. This is a super nice 335 copy, because it is as close to an exact copy as they could get. This guitar was great with round 10s on it but I got a guitar with a piezo floater so this got retired from my Dad band and now has TI 12s on it as well. I would think you could get either of these off Reverb for under $1500, likely even less for the Tokai. Happy to recommend either for anyone shopping.
