I'm trying to research the history of the Gibson L-5 headstock.
They were different for:
1923
1927
1936
The 1936 was more like todays except for the Gibson Logo.
What I'm wondering about is the length, from the headstock side of nut, to the tip
Or if you would have any dimensions of them
If anyone would know any information, would like to hear.

There is a lot headstock history documented on the prewar L5 website. Seems to me you are alreay familiar with that info. But, what do you exactly consider the tip of the headstock.
-
The tip of headstock = upper end
From nut to upper end of headstock

I measured some just now and all look to be a touch under 7 inches, though my measurement method was a bit quick and sloppy.
1931, 1938, 1947

Thanks for your response
I appreciate it and am grateful
On my first post on another sight I had asked for all measurements
Of 1932 headstock, might you have them
-
Should be the same as the '31
why do you need to know?

I'm doing research on the headstocks of Gibson
Lots of info on the Les Paul
But the others are harder to find
Barney Kessel
Tal Farlow
I think they were the larger one like the newer L-5
But the L-5 had three different types
The earlier ones - I'm not sure if they were the same, but with different logo
Thanks for your response

I can give you the dimensions of a Chet Atkins if you need one?

Thanks for the response
Kind of funny that you would have that headstock
I do have two of those guitars
One is orange and the other is cherry or red wine finish, not sure what they call it
Nice that you did respond
Thanks again
