    A friend wanted me to ask the group this, when I told him we have the most knowledgeable bunch of Gibson experts in the world.
    He said they copied JS' D'A in 1961, but then from 1952 on they made three piece necks. He included a picture of a '61 JS and a picture of the serial # of the guitar, but I don't know how to put them on this post-give me instructions if you want to see the two pictures.

    I believe that's correct though I've seen some guitars advertised as 61's w 3 piece (or 5 depending if you count the thin laminates between) so maybe the change occurred sometime in 61, or maybe they were incorrectly identified as 61's and the change actually occurred in 62.

    Thanks, I sent that to my friend. I'm sorry Big Blue had to send the Cowgirls into first place in the East, but at least the Birds are in the playoffs.
