Working on a Unity Guitar with Harp like tailpiece. The place where it attaches to the tailpiece broke. I took it to the local brass instrument repair place. They think that can make the curl that grabs the top tailpiece wire whole again. The fellow was not completely sure it was brass which means he could not braze it back. I then ask if he could simply fashion a brass copy of the end piece that is screwed into the end block with an appropriate hook/rolled attachment. In other words, the tailpiece is two separate parts, and the tailpiece is simply hooked to the hinge. Many are simply threaded through like a hinge but don't separate.
My thinkings is a Kluson would work perfect for the end piece if a Kluson is a two-piece tailpiece? I don't remember can someone check. Possible anyone think of a solution. I don't want to get another tailpiece as it is an engraved Unity specific or the guitar. I am not worried about hinge being the original.I could buy this and just use the hinge. It is not a genuine Kluson but I see it is two parts.

Those were made by ABM in Germany, I think they were model 1281 but discontinued.
Not Unity specific, Heritage used them as well as Sam Koontz back in the day.
try contacting Hammertone, he might be able to steer you in the right direction.

I've used these in the past. Might have one in my parts bin. What would you like to know about them?

Do they come in two parts or is the hinge just hanging with it going through the rolled pin. Some just hook on and others are already threaded.

Did have one in the bin..
They are separate pieces.
Would you like me to scan the pieces against a ruler and email the image to you?

scan and picture if positive then and you! You can pm if you want.
