Now is a good time to sell guitars, because their value is likely to decrease. Guitar collecting is a boomer hobby — younger generations are not interested in acquiring things, and they do not have the money or the space for collections. The boomer generation is retiring and dying. Their guitar collections are beginning to flood the market.

Professional musicians have been able to buy instruments as tax deductible business expenses. So working collections made good investments, but only if the values held up. Asian collectors have boosted auction markets in recent years, but the world's uncertain economic prospects mean there is no guarantee that buyers will be willing to pay the prices owners expect. Besides, no rock star can expect his fame to last, especially after he has stopped recording and touring; the value of his collection will decline as his star fades.

It went for GBP 504K which is about $US636K

I guess this would be a record for a Pensa or a Suhr. A couple of other "lesser-brand" records too, I'm guessing, like the Schecter Tele GBP 415,800 and the Teisco Spectrum 5 at GBP 37,800. I've never seen a Teisco top $1500 before and that was a pristine K4-L. Probably also a record for an EKO with the 700v4 getting GBP 37,800.

The 3 Super 400s went from GBP 48K - GBP 75K. The top prices for archtops seemed to be the 1958 ES350 and a 1953 Super 400, both at GBP 75K or $US94K.

The "Money for Nothing" Les Paul was GBP 592K or $US747K and a '59 burst made GBP 693K or $US875K

There is a fairly clear celebrity/charity premium happening here when you see the 2021 Les Paul made for Teenage Cancer Trust and signed by many well-known guitarists go for GBP 403K
